THE GENERAL CONTEXT:
Minamata, Japan, 1960. Some fishermen and their families became seriously intoxicated by consuming fish contaminated with industrial waste containing mercury. The catastrophe caused 2248 victims, of which 1004 died between 1968 and 1990. In recent years, public opinion has been sensitized to this problem; moreover numerous places have turned out to be polluted by toxic metal slags with damage to air and water. The various governments have committed themselves to follow these events closely to avoid any new catastrophes. But the small sources of intoxication are the most difficult to contain and they could damage certain sectors of economy. Western press publishes numerous articles concerning heavy metal poisoning, the processes used by some companies or the excesses of productive agriculture. Actually, mercury occupies the first place among these metals.
At the beginning of the last century the first dental fillings were born, when the possibility of obtaining new alloys with mercury was discovered, which was worked and hardened at room temperature. The first controversies for dental fillings took place in the United States as early as 1830.
The problem of fillings became more evident since the 90s, with a vast scientific literature, which stated that their use had proved to be harmful and not only in sensitized patients. The numerous articles published in specialized press allowed researchers to find solutions to improve the destruction of waste. Thus the dentists' offices, from the end of 2001, must be equipped with amalgam separators on the spittoons of the armchairs, to avoid polluting the environment with mercury. Numerous publications of specialized dentist press talk about a better quality of the amalgam adjuvants that are increasingly subject to substitution. Mercury thermometers and batteries containing mercury are now prohibited and it is recommended to avoid the use of alloys containing cadmium and lead to limit the accumulation of these heavy metals in the environment.

DENTAL ENCLOSURES AND THEIR TOXICITY
 
A dental filling is composed of an alloy of metals: 50% mercury, 30% silver, 9% tin, 6% copper, with zinc, palladium or indium (in addition, depending on the quality). It must be emphasized that silver is also harmful, since it is more responsible than mercury of autoimmune diseases. The various studies have highlighted the release of mercury in the mouth of dental amalgam carriers. Mercury fumes occur during chewing, increased by bruxism ("grinding" of the teeth), by the action of the toothbrush and the consumption of chewing gum.
Furthermore, the mouth is a damp place where an electrochemical corrosion phenomenon can occur much more frequently. A study lead by the University of Tübingen, published in 1996 and conducted on the saliva of 20,000 patients, has shown that a part of the mercury of the amalgams is released into the mouth in the form of vapors and that after chewing 90% of people have a mercury concentration in saliva greater than 5 ug / l. Furthermore, 80% of the vapors are absorbed by the lungs and are then fixed largely by the brain.
According to AIOMT (International Academy of Dental Medicine and Toxicology in November 1999 in Paris):
• The volatilized metallic elemental mercury (Hg °) is fat-soluble (soluble in fats), diffused through the membrane of the pulmonary alveoli to pass quickly into the blood. It can also cross the blood-antaphalic barrier.
• In blood cells, mercury oxidises in water-soluble (HM ++) dimercury ions (water-soluble) and can block the thiol (-SH) functions of proteins, essential among biological molecules.
• In the presence of the oral and intestinal flora, the mercury ions can then be biotransformed into phenyl- and methylmercury (organo-metallic compounds) which are strongly neurotoxic and are strongly absorbed in the intestinal tract.
 
Chronic heavy metal intoxication is a progressive and cumulative phenomenon: 
theWHO (World Health Organization) estimates that starting from 40 ug / l of mercury in urine, there is a strong risk and can cause a whole series of severe symptoms.
Heavy metals that are most frequently responsible for the pollution of the environment and the phenomena of intoxication are mercury, lead, nickel, aluminum, cadmium, gold, palladium, but the list is not exhaustive .
The binding of a toxic metal, such as mercury, with an epitome –SH membranous modifies the surface of the cell. A cell so modified becomes antigenic and it is attacked by T lymphocytes. Moreover heavy metals are involved in the generation of free radicals and in some enzymatic mechanisms. In fact, some enzymes or metal-enzymes contain one or more metal atoms, generally of zinc, cobalt, magnesium or iron. The substitution of this initial metallic atom with another totally inhibits the enzymatic reaction. The result is a local "poisoning" of the cell. This is why mercury is a powerful toxic element in the nervous system.
Among other damages, it is also known that nickel inhibits the synthesis of red blood cells and that cadmium displaces zinc whose implication in the cellular aging process today is recognized. Furthermore the contamination of the environment by industrial pollutants, whose heavy metals are very toxic, sets down the crucial problem of the risk of absorption through the food chain. The intestinal and pulmonary epithelium represent the first biological barriers that must be overcome by the metals ingested or inhaled before they enter the systemic circulation.
The accumulation of this pollution, linked to metal poisoning, is responsible for serious cellular and molecular damages, both short and long term. This allows us to explain the premature aging and the appearance of degenerative, auto-immune diseases.
 
The toxicity of heavy metals is linked to the indissoluble bridges formed in the body between metals, proteins and enzymes, preventing their elimination through the natural ways of eliminating toxins: the excretory organs (liver, kidney, skin, lung and intestine), imprisoning the metals, inactivating the enzymes, in particular the enzymes that intervene in the anti-radical defense and block proteins, thus causing a chain reaction of multiple anomalies in the general metabolism.
It is of great importance to associate the processes of Dechelation and Chelation in a therapeutic synergy. The Dechelazione is the physical process that cuts the indissoluble and not assimilable bridges between metals, enzymes and proteins, freeing them. Chelation consists in picking up heavy metals and facilitating their elimination.
Dechelazione is the indispensable process that allows, secondarily, an elimination of heavy metals without overloading the kidney or the liver and that allows to respect and to find again a natural enzymatic and protein kinetics.

COMPOSITION 
1) OPC (of grape seeds> 95%): proantocianidols
OPCs are vegetable substances extracted from the seeds of grapes with major anti-radical and anti-inflammatory properties. They have a maximum bio-availability without equivalent; they act by "sensor" effect and block the chain mechanisms of multiple injuries caused by free radicals, always overproduced in heavy metal overloads.
The OPC perform a detoxifying action on the liver and vascular protection, dynamizing and stimulating kinetics and elimination of heavy metals.
 
2) Ulva lactuca / Sea lettuce
Sea lettuce is a very photophilic lamellate green alga, rich in fibers (38% of dry weight), macro-elements and indispensable amino acids. It is known for its natural role in capturing toxic substances and toxins. It "sucks" the heavy metals and eliminates them.
 
3) Cetraria / Licheni Cetraria islandila / Lichen of Iceland
Cetraria alba / white lichen
Lichens are rich in mucilage, mainly lichenine (64%), isolichenine and contain various compounds, such as cetraric acid, lichen stearic acid and usnic acid.
Iceland mousse has been consumed by the Lapps since ancient times. Lichens naturally capture all toxic substances.
 
4) Maphigia glabra/Acerola
L’Acerola è un frutto rosso (ciliegia) molto ricco di vitamina C o Acido Ascorbico, vitamina idrosolubile che possiede importanti proprietà riduttrici, anti-radicali; gioca un ruolo biochimico rilevante in associazione con gli idrossilasi dipendenti dal citocromo P 450 microsomale nella trasformazione delle sostanze tossiche. La vitamina C ha proprietà dechelanti e chelanti sugli ioni metallici, agendo sul loro assorbimento, mobilitazione e distribuzione.
 
5) Lentinus edodes/Shitake mycelium
In tutti i casi di intossicazione metallica il mycelium, per le sue capacità di modificare la permeabilià della membrana cellulare e di assorbire sostanze diverse, permette la captazione e l’eliminazione dei metalli pesanti. Grazie a queste proprietà particolari, esso agisce come un notevole vettore: così può caricarsi di sostanze che si desidera convogliare ed è capace di trasportarle meglio di altri supporti.
D’altronde il mycelium è capace di produrre da solo componenti nutrizionali, in particolare polisaccaridi ma anche tutti i tipi di componenti che si ritrovano nei funghi: vitamine, acidi aminici, oligo-elementi, enzimi ed assicura anche un’azione nutritiva e rivitalizzante.
Il Lentinus edodes presenta inoltre un’attività immuno-stimolante, antitumorale e antivirale.
 
6) Auricularia auriculae judae
Questo fungo non esiste unicamente nei paesi asiatici, ma lo si trova dappertutto sul legno morto. È ricco di vitamina D e produce numerosi polisaccaridi: le sue proprietà sono multiple, ma in particolare svolge un’attività immuno-stimolante e antitumorale. Esso veicola sostanze attive chelanti ed elimina i metalli pesanti.
 
4) Maphigia glabra / Acerola
Acerola is a red fruit (cherry) very rich in vitamin C or Ascorbic acid, a water-soluble vitamin that has important anti-radical reducing properties; plays a relevant biochemical role in association with the cytochrome P 450 microsomal-dependent hydroxylases in the transformation of toxic substances. Vitamin C has dechelant and chelating properties on metal ions, acting on their absorption, mobilization and distribution.

In all cases of metal poisoning, mycelium, due to its ability to modify the permeability of the cell membrane and to absorb different substances, allows the capture and removal of heavy metals.
